The school got word of the threat around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, school officials said on Facebook. The school was evacuated as a precaution and everyone was safely outside.

Fitchburg Fire and Police swept through the building and students were dismissed early as a result, the school added.

The building was later deemed safe and students were allowed to come back and get their personal items. All after school activities were canceled as well.

No other information was initially released. This comes just one day after several schools in Ashburnham and Gardner received bomb threats.
